Hockey India hosts the 2019 FIH Men's series finals in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. India has entered the semifinal after beating Uzbekistan 10-0. Akashdeep Singh scored an impressive hat-trick during the match. Prior to the game against Uzbekistan, the Indian hockey team beat Poland 3-1 in their second match of the series. With this win, India has qualified from Pool A and USA has qualified from Pool B. After the match, captain of the Men's hockey team Manpreet Singh said, “If you commit a mistake in the group stages, at least you’ll get a chance to rectify it in the next game. But mistakes in a knockout match can prove costly. Like at the World Cup, we committed few errors in the quarter-final against the Netherlands and it did cost us. So, the general idea is to avoid mistakes and score as soon as possible. Coach Graham Reid also commented on the team's performance, he said, "Of course, we always want more goals. Those things take time to get better and we are working with the strikers to get in better positions.
